So, you JUST got engaged and are starting to plan your wedding in Tennessee? The first question you may be asking is, how much will this cost? Whether you want an intimate backyard celebration or a lavish, fancy celebration price is always something to keep in mind. Today, I’ll give you a complete break down of the various costs you’ll need to consider for a Tennessee wedding in 2025.
When looking for venues, the city it’s in will almost entirely determine the price.
A venue in Nashville, Tennessee, for example, costs $7,000 on average.
However, the average cost of a venue in Johnson City, Tennessee is only about $4,500 because it’s in a more rural area.
When looking into catering costs, the amount of guests will determine how much you’re paying.
On average, wedding catering in Tennessee will cost you about $70 per person.
The average wedding has 100 guests, so this will be $7,000.
If you’re having a larger or smaller wedding or catering higher end food, this cost will change significantly.
The price of a wedding photographer will vary based on how many hours you’re willing to pay the photographer to stay.
You can also save on these costs by hiring a photographer who’s local to your area.
This way you can save on the expensive travel fees that may be required for an out-of-state photographer.
Like photography, the number of hours you need will directly influence the cost.
Videographers will also charge based on their experience.
A newer wedding videographer may save you some money, but you need to make sure you’re happy with their portfolio before you hire them.
You’ll need to decide if you’re having a wedding DJ or hiring a live band to play at your wedding.
The average cost of a DJ is only $1,200, while a live band will cost about $6,000.
The bride’s gown will cost about $2,000 on average.
For the groom, you can expect to pay about $200 to rent a tuxedo.
You can expect to spend about 9% of your wedding budget on flowers.
There are some ways to cut costs when it comes to a florist, such as having a family member help arrange them or purchasing seasonal arrangements.
Assuming the engagement ring has already been purchased, you can expect to pay about $800 for a men’s wedding band and $1,000 for a women’s.
The hair and makeup cost may change depending on how many are in your bridal party and whether or not you’re covering the cost of their hair and makeup.
The average cost of wedding favors is $3.50 per guest.
A civil officiant will tend to cost more than a religious one will.
The cost of a wedding planner varies drastically based on the scope of service needed.
For same day planners, you can expect to spend about $4,000.
However, a full service planner can cost up to $15,000.
The average cost of wedding stationery is $6 per guest.
These are some other costs to consider, however, I will not include them in the final total.
Transportation (limousine rental or valet parking): $1,000
Tips for vendors: $500
Permits for public spaces: $200
While this may sound high, it is actually lower than the 2025 national average cost of a wedding, which is $36,000.
As I noted, in many of these categories it is super easy to save money.
By starting local in your vendor search, trimming the guest list down and getting help from family members, you can easily cut many of these costs down.
